Here is another depiction of Horus - this time as a complete falcon standing on his perch as seen in Edfu temple - a temple dedicated to him.
Horus is one of the oldest and most significant deity in the Ancient Egyptian religion. He is most often shown as a falcon, a man with a falcon's head or just a falcon's head.
Horus was the son of Isis and Osiris. He battled with Set (his uncle) for the throne of Egypt. The battle was so viscious and prolonged that in the end the gods had to decide who was the victor. Horus was chosen and he became ruler of the world of the living.
