Lapis Lazuli is known as 'the stone of protection'.
Since Horus was said to be the sky - he was considered to also contain the sun and moon. It became said that the sun was his right eye and the moon his left and that they traversed the sky when he, as a falcon, flew across it. After Osiris, his father, was murdered by his brother (Horus's uncle) Set; Horus fought with Set for the throne of Egypt. In this fight Horus lost his left eye. However a new eye was created for him by part of Khonsu, the moon god, and was thus replaced. This is the reason why the moon is not as bright as the sun.
The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection and royal power from the deities and in the Ancient Egyptian language the name for this is 'Wadjat' - a solar deity whose symbol was an eye. 'Wedjat' was intended to protect the king in the afterlife and to ward off evil.
All my silver Egyptian jewellery is truly authentic. I purchase it in Cairo directly from manufacturers there.
